We stress-tested six revenue forecasting tools against a bad quarter
Every forecasting product looks smart when the pipeline is healthy. We fed them a real collapse and watched which ones flinched.

We took an anonymized dataset from a company that missed by 34% in a single quarter and replayed it week by week through six forecasting platforms, checking how early each one signaled trouble.
Only two flagged the miss before week seven. Both did it the same way: by weighting buyer-side engagement decay above rep-entered stage changes. The four that lagged all trusted the CRM stage field, which reps update last and optimistically.
The lesson
Forecast accuracy is mostly a data-source question, not a model question. Ask any vendor which signals outrank the rep's own stage entry. If the answer is none, the tool will tell you what you already believe.
